Quest Software's Toad Data Modeler helps organizations create, maintain and document their database systems with an easy-to-use graphical interface into new or existing database structures. Toad Data Modeler enables users to reverse engineer database structures, update models, design and generate SQL, compare models and generate alter scripts, create HTML or RTF reports, in addition to versioning of database designs and creation of to-do lists.
Toad Data Modeler 3.x represents a major increase in the capabilities in comparison to Toad Data Modeler 2.x. It's a much more powerful database design tool bringing users many new efficient and useful features that are accompanied by completely new, clear and intuitive user interface.
Toad Data Modeler 3.4.15 is a patch to version 3.4.14. No new features have been implemented in this version.

Reverse engineering: New checkbox Load Tables Referenced by Selected Tables. When it is selected, the following tables will be loaded: - those that user selects in step Tables, plus - those that user will not select in step Tables, however they will be loaded as they are related to the selected tables via relationships. |
60 277 | |
| Loading of DDL script – for database MS SQL Server 2005 and MS SQL Server 2008. | 57 621 | |
| LIVE Reverse Engineering for MS SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008. | 57 355 | |
| MySQL |
Reverse engineering of MySQL 5.1 – Relationships were not loaded. MySQL problem - If parameter lower_case_table_names for MySQL is set 0 or 2, then command SHOW CREATE TABLE returns for relationships a parent table name in lower case although it is in upper case. This caused a problem during searching of the parent table during reverse engineering in Toad Data Modeler. Fixed. |
62 679 |
|
Autoincrement problem in attributes with Char data type. Fix: Autoincrement is not generated in SQL/DDL code, reports and alter scripts for data types that do not support autoincrement. |
58 066 | |
| Oracle 11g |
Alter script Oracle 11g problems: 1. Error during alter script generation for Oracle 11g models - change of parameter from BYTE to CHAR for Char and Varchar2 data types. Problem Description: A change was made in a domain. If this changed domain was used in attributes in the models that were compared in Convertor, an error occurred during the alter script generation. Fixed. 2. Change of data type at Virtual Column generated the MODIFY clause in alter script. In the MODIFY clause, also Expression of Virtual Column was used. However, during a change of column that is Virtual Column, the Expression must not appear provided that there is not any change. Fix: Expression is not written out, only the change of data type is generated in the alter script. 3. Change of Expression in Virtual Column when the column is NOT NULL in the old model (in the model that you like to update) was not executed. Fix: Before this change, the NOT NULL constraint will be cancelled, then the change of Expression will be executed and during this, the NOT NULL will be set up again (or will not be – according to whether it is set up in the new model or not). |
59 388 |
| Reverse engineering – Only attributes of the first loaded table were loaded during RE. Bug fixed. | 56 958 | |
| Oracle 10g |
Import of DDL script: Error: REDataMigratorDDLOR Description: ‘null’ is null or not an object. Problem occurred while adding foreign keys where columns in the References part were not defined. Fixed. |
57 702 |
| Oracle 11g, 10g |
Reverse Engineering – LOB Parameters of XMLType are loaded now. In the RE Wizard, see these checkboxes: Load XMLType Column Properties for Tables – If it is selected, XMLType will be loaded. Load LOB Storage Parameters for Tables/Materialized Views - If it is selected, LOB parameters of table columns and LOB parameters of XMLType parameter will be loaded. XMLType parameters and their LOB parameters are displayed in Entity Properties form | Table Properties tab. Example: XMLTYPE "A" STORE AS CLOB (TABLESPACE "USERS" CHUNK 8192) Note: The table must have an attribute of XMLTYPE data type. |
56 647 |
| Oracle 9i |
Alter script Oracle 9i – problem during alter script generation of named NOT
NULL constraints. Fix: Named NOT NULL constraints are generated after deletion of temporary table. NOT NULL constraints that are not named are generated in the CREATE TABLE statement of the temporary table. |
64 291 |
| Oracle 11g, 10g, 9i |
Import of DDL (via Live RE or RE Wizard) – minor bug fixes and enhancements. Materialized View is now parsed to particular boxes in the Materialized View Properties dialog (in previous versions the complete command CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW was loaded on tab SQL). |
63 148 |
|
Reverse engineering – Problem occurred when user used in his schema a table name
that was identical with system table name. Problem fixed. |
61 250 | |
| LIVE Reverse Engineering – Triggers on tables and views were not loaded. Fixed. | 58 115 | |
|
DDL Script generation + Reverse engineering – added support of External Tables. To define a table as External Table, open the Entity Properties form | Physical Properties tab and select the External Table (Organization External) checkbox. Then the External Table Properties tab will occur on the form. |
57 242 | |
|
Reverse Engineering – Information on system tables to which user does not have
access or SELECT privilege will be written out in the Log area of the RE Wizard.
There can be one of the following outputs: 1) Missing access to system table ALL_TABLES. 2) Missing privilege SELECT on system table ALL_TABLES. |
55 604 | |
|
Oracle Directory Objects supported. Open Model Explorer and see new item Directories where you can define the Oracle Directory Objects and where the Oracle Directory Objects are loaded during reverse engineering. Open the Directory dialog to define a name and Full Path Name as e.g.: C:\oracle\admin\oracle12 |
43 191 | |
| PostgreSQL 8.3, 8.2, 8.1 |
Rewrite Rules supported – see the new item in Model Explorer Notes: - In the Rule Properties dialog, you can select whether the rule relates to view or entity. - In reports, Rewrite Rules will be generated for entities and views provided that the Rewrite Rules, Entities and/or Views checkboxes are all selected in OTPs (step What to Report in the Report wizard). - During reverse engineering only those Rewrite Rules that relate to the loaded entities and views will be reversed. |
58 545 |
| Sybase ASE 15, 12.5 |
Reverse engineering - Error during loading permissions: Source: CS3 - Internal error Script: REDataMigratorDBAS15 Description: '' is not a valid GUID value Fix: Now instead of the error, information on which permissions were not loaded will be written out in the Log area (Note: TDM does not load all permissions during RE.) |
